The End of GroupWise?

There was a rumor going around this week that GroupWise development is going to cease. Here is a quote from Dean Lythgoe, Novell's Director of GroupWise Engineering addressing this rumor:

"GroupWise Engineering is alive and well and GROWING. There are no plans to stop development. We have a very robust long-term road map. As many of you know, we are nearing BETA with the current development of Bonsai (the next major release of GroupWise). This is the most exciting end-user release in my personal 17 year history with Novell. Novell is investing more into the development of GroupWise as we are expanding our engineering team both in development as well as testing. In addition, Novell is investing heavily in the overall collaboration space with its introduction of Novell Teaming + Conferencing - due out in September. Customers will not only have new features in GroupWise, but will have entirely new collaboration metaphors to enable their businesses. In addition, the Novell Partner Community is releasing a variety of new integrations and extensions to the GroupWise ecosystem at a blazing pace.

We have several planned future releases of GroupWise. As we complete Bonsai, we will be planning 'Monterrey'. Product Management has already gathered lots of input on what should come next. They also have longer term plans and road maps/directions that have been approved and continue to be refined.”
