Symantec acquires MessageLabs

Symantec's acquisition of MessageLabs is a logical and expected expansion of the former's cloud-based security offerings. I had expected that Symantec might purchase MX Logic because of their long-standing relationship with them, but the acquisition of MessageLabs comes as no real surprise. The purchase price is $695 million, representing about 4.8 times MessageLabs' $145 million in revenues for the FY ended July 31.
