Human Process Management

Many of the reasons we use email and desktop productivity applications focus on managing processes of various types: sending a document to others for review, receiving expense reports for approval, sending updates on corporate policies, and the like. Further, there is normally an implicit process in managing this work: for example, employees A, B and C collaborate on a document; then send it to manager D for approval; who sends it to senior manager E for final approval; and so forth. The problem with using email in this way is that there is no easy, formalized or structured way to manage these processes.

ActionBase was developed to overcome this problem by allowing the use of Outlook and other tools within the Office suite to manage documents and processes. I have seen a demo of ActionBase and it works very nicely without imposing a rigid structure on users or a long learning curve. You can view a demo here.
